The Rarotongan Beach Resort & Spa is a 157 room, full-service four-star resort located on the island of Rarotonga, the capital of the Cook Islands. Our sister resort, The Aitutaki Lagoon Resort & Spa, is a 36 bungalow resort on its own island located within the world famous Aitutaki Lagoon which is a 40 minute flight from Rarotonga.
The resort has a proactive, hands-on approach and is always looking for experienced and motivated people with a can-do approach to join the team.
We are a 24/7 business and work is usually in shifts with very few, if any, 9 to 5 roles. We have high expectations of all our employees and a heavy emphasis is placed on on-going training and leadership of our staff. We are therefore looking for training-orientated people, preferably with tertiary qualifications, who can enhance staff performance and contribute to high levels of guest satisfaction.
Our Human Resources team assists all departments with their training needs as well as providing a guest service-based training program. Human Resources ensures all new staff are welcomed to the resort with a thorough orientation program.
The resort also offers the opportunity to study for international hotel qualifications via the American Hotel & Lodging Association's Educational Institute, giving employees the opportunity to advance themselves within their area or other specialties. Employees are able to advance all the way to completing the Diploma in Hospitality Management.
The professional development of employees is heavily focused upon, with formal appraisals done with their managers every three months to assist with the individual's performance and development.
The work at The Rarotongan Beach Resort & Spa is demanding with pressure on staff to perform to expected standards and consistently provide guests with the service levels they expect. This includes an extensive Bonus and Incentives Scheme for staff.
There are three incentives:
• Individual Bonus
• 100% 5 Star Bonus
• Team Bonus
Our Human Resources team manages our recruitment process and we are always interested in hearing from experienced and talented hospitality professionals seeking a challenging career position.
Preference is given to people with previous South Pacific experience although this is not essential. Preference is given in issuing work permits to those with a previous work history in a supervisory/management capacity within the hospitality industry, or with a relevant qualification.
